Recognition for Minnesota Exteriors’ Craftsmanship
2008 Trillum AwardsSM
The 18th Annual Trillium AwardsSM, recognizing the highest quality achievement in the local building industry, were presented to 26 builders and 53 of their vendors and suppliers at our new Awards of Excellence banquet held on October 28th at the Crowne Plaza in St. Paul. Trillium AwardsSM honor the partnership between builder and the companies that supply products and services to create excellence in new-home construction.
The 2008 Trillium AwardsSM recognize excellence in five overall categories: Best Bath, Best Exterior, Best Interior Design/Layout, Best Kitchen and Best Special Area. Each home entered in the Trillium AwardsSM competition was judged by a panel of building industry peers.
The five overall categories were divided into 26 sub-categories by price range. A total of 108 builders and 219 associate members (those sub-contractors and vendors who provided the products and services to builders) participated in the competition. All 2008 Trillium AwardSM entries were homes featured in and judged during the Parade of Homes Spring PreviewSM that was held February 9 through March 16, 2008.

VSI Awards (May 19, 2008) – The Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) has announced the winners of the 25th annual Awards of Distinction competition. Submissions were evaluated on the basis of imaginative use, design, functionality, quality of workmanship, and, in the Historic Restoration category, faithful reproduction of an original design.
Minnesota Exteriors, Inc. (MEI) was named a winner for the third consecutive year in the Awards of Distinction competition, this year in the historical renovation category. The winning home is over 150 years old and located in St Paul, MN. The home once belonged to the first governor of Minnesota. It was re-sided with Heartland HeartTech cream colored smooth siding to replicate the original wood siding look and finished off with CertainTeed Restoration Millwork.
5-Star Certified Contractor (November 2007) – CertainTeed Corporation awarded Minnesota Exteriors, Inc. (MEI) its 5-Star Vinyl Siding and Trim Contractor certification. This is CertainTeed’s highest vinyl siding and trim credential. 5-Star contractors must pass a vinyl siding master craftsman test and a restoration millwork master craftsman test, as well as, having completed the vinyl siding institute’s certified installer course. In addition, MEI had to provide proof of workers compensation insurance and liability insurance. Only the best and brightest contractors receive this 5-Star Contractor recognition.
2007 VSI Awards (June 1, 2007) – Each year, the Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) recognizes outstanding uses of vinyl siding certified through the VSI Vinyl Siding Certification Program. At the 24th annual Awards of Distinction, Minnesota Exteriors, Inc. was again named an award winner in the Residential New Construction category, out of more than 225 entries. The winning building is a townhome development in Plymouth, MN, using Arbor Glen vinyl siding in Clay, by Heartland Building Products. Click on the photo for a larger view.
